My sister “messaged” me on Facebook. I didn’t get the message. Then she emailed me. I forgot about Facebook messages. (That’s how rarely I get them.) Oops. But she has email, so it all worked out.
So, I’ve fixed my Facebook settings to send an email if someone messages me. Or if someone wants to be “friends.” Like I said, the Facebook thing isn’t about cut-off. It’s about my long-term sanity.
I’m three weeks without Facebook now. I don’t know if that qualifies as a “post-Facebook” life quite yet. Probably not. I do know that I haven’t missed it nearly as much as I thought I might. Come to think of it, I haven’t missed it at all.
Turns out, life really can go on without it.
